There are four mainstream NHS systems in the UK, with two private sector alternatives.

    The DPA offers a variety of payment plans to members. Patients' entitlements to treatment and discounts etc. depends on which plan they join and their monthly payment and fees vary accordingly.

  • Private Dentistry
    Private dentistry is an arrangement where the dentist sets a fee based on the time and profit required and the cost of materials and laboratory work. Once this is agreed with the patient, this is the most flexible type of system.

  • Salaried
    The Salaried Primary Dental Care Services (SPDCS) are typically Community Dental Services, or salaried Personal Dental Service pilots, or more rarely salaried general dental practitioners employed by PCTs and working under General Dental Services Regulations.
